Your dues Card is your ‘Official Certificate’ Once becoming a member – you have in your possession a piece of paper 2 ¼ by 3 ¼ inches in size. It is of no intrinsic value, not a bond, not a check, yet it will become, one of your most priceless possessions. It is your membership receipt in the Order of Odd Fellowship. It tells you have entered into a fraternal bond with other sisters and brothers of the Order – to practice friendship, love and truth. To forgive and forget the faults of our sisters and brothers. To hush the tongues of scandal and in every way assist those in trouble, sickness or distress. It tells us no matter where we travel in the US, its possessions or other countries; we are welcome to visit a place where good fellowship prevails among sisters and brothers. It tells us that should we ever be overtaken by adversity or misfortune the hands of every member will be stretched forth to assist us in our necessity. And finally, it tells us when our final exit from this stage of life has been made – there will be gathered in the Lodge room sisters and brothers who will recall our virtues though they are few and will forget our faults though they are many. It tells all of this and a great deal more – this little piece of paper 2 ¼ by 3 ¼ in size.
